Club Carlson Award Changes

Club Carlson has announced their 2013 hotel category changes and unlike the other changes we've seen from hotel programs in recent months, the changes are more positive than negative.
The changes go into effect May 1, 2013 and 97 hotels are moving into higher categories while 151 hotels will move into lower categories, which means more hotels will soon require fewer points.
If you were saving up points for a trip to Disney World, take note that the Radisson Hotel International Drive in Orlando will be a Category 3 instead of a Category 1 and the Radisson Resort Orlando Celebration will move into Category 4 from Category 2.
A few properties moving down in categories include the Park Inn by Radisson Fresno (soon a Category 1 from Category 2) and the Radisson Hotel Phoenix-Chandler (Category 2 from Category 3). Visit http://www.insideflyer.com/link/?8848 to view the complete list of properties moving categories.
While more hotels can be booked for less points when the changes go into effect, it's possible that the hotel you want to stay at will now be considerably more expensive. Of the hotels moving up a category or two, many are moving from a Category 2 to a Category 3 at 28,000 points, which is nearly twice as many points as Category 2 at 15,000 points.
