Middle East Airlines Cedar Miles
Website Review

(1 ratings)

Rated: October 2009- You can get to the Cedar Miles Web pages from a link located on the main tool bar on the Middle East Airlines (MEA) home page. The red, blue and green colors of the MEA logo are repeated throughout the Web site and are the only colors you will see except for a few colorful images.

When signing up for the program online, you have the option to choose one of over 80 "civil titles" and you can request to be addressed by a colorful title such as Her Royal Highness, His Excellency, Princess or our favorite, My Lord. On a more practical note, you can also select to receive your mileage statement and Cedar Miles newsletter to be sent via email--something we suggest all members to do.

Once you get to the Cedar Miles pages, you can navigate via a Cedar Miles drop down menu on the left side of the screen. The menu is straightforward and allows you to narrow down your search with a second drop down menu. For example, scroll to Earning your miles and a second dropdown menu will appear and you can choose to select: How to earn miles, Top tiers privileges, Mileage calculator -- Earn miles and Claim missing miles.

The tiered drop down menus are a great way to organize information so visitors to the Web site can go directly to the correct page without having to sort through information on intermediate pages, which is especially helpful with this Web site because pages load slowly.

Rewards charts are easy to read and appear all on one page. In addition to flight and upgrade awards, the charts also list the number of miles required to book an extra 15 kg of luggage.

You can also enter your departure and arrival cities, whether you are looking for a roundtrip or one way flight and class of service into a calculator tool that will tell you the exact number of miles needed for a flight award.

Online award booking is not available and you will need to download an online form and fax it to Cedar Miles or send it to a local Middle East Airlines office at least 14 days before departure to book an award flight. You can request credit for missing miles on Middle East Airlines online but for credit on partner airlines, you will need to submit your request by mail to Cedar Miles.

There is a link to News and Promotions where you can read about all the current offers, such as a two-for-one offer where you can get two award tickets for the price of one through Nov. 15, 2009.

The FAQ list contains the answers to 12 questions and includes contact information for Cedar Miles. Answers to any other questions you may have about the program can be found in the terms and conditions or you can email the program through the "Have Your Say" link.

While information is easy to find on Cedar Miles and navigation is seamless, the page load times are at times painfully slow. The Web site also lacks basic functionality, such as the ability to book awards online.
