This Monday through Friday, Randy Petersen will receive 350 phone calls and emails (that's 350 each day!), do 12 newspaper, TV, magazine or radio interviews, talk to 15 frequent flyer programs, peruse 27 magazines, review the bonus offerings of more than 57 of these programs to bring you a perceptive, intelligent and exciting perspective on frequent traveler programs -- and this will be a slow week.
The Beginning: As a former marketing and merchandise presentation manager for a large menswear retailer, Randy spent much of his time flying and keeping accurate records of his mileage awards. "Nearly everyone I knew would come to me for advice on their frequent traveler programs." When it got to the point of constantly advising people, many which he had never met, Randy started his own newsletter and the business has grown ever since. In fact, it now consists of 12 separate businesses, all of which deal with frequent travel programs.
Randy currently resides on a ranch outside of Colorado Springs, CO, but maintains a very active schedule of worldwide travel tending to his business interests. His outside activities include snow skiing, watersports, reading, renovating houses and playing basketball.
Randy is currently the Chairman and President of a number of travel related companies which began in 1986. These companies are involved in the collection, dissemination and customer service of frequent traveler program information. The executive office is located in Colorado Springs.
The Wall Street Journal refers to Randy as "... the most influential frequent flyer in America," while The New York Times tagged him "the world's leading expert on airline frequent flyer programs." Randy is editor and publisher of Inside Flyer. Considered the leading publication in the world about frequent traveler programs, Inside Flyer has readers in all 50 U.S. states and 134 countries. He is also the editor of The Official Frequent Flyer Guidebook; a regular speaker at business travel seminars and conferences in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia; and is often called upon by the industry itself for his comments and suggestions about frequent traveler programs. Randy has been named to the "Frequent Traveler Hall of Fame" sponsored by the Hilton Hotel Corporation and has been named "One of the 25 Most Influential Executives in Business Travel Industry" by Business Travel News. As an expert on frequent flyer programs, he has appeared on CBS, NBC, ABC News Radio, Good Morning America and European Business News. He is frequently quoted in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times and more than 100 other newspapers and magazines including The London Telegraph, International Herald-Tribune and The South China Morning Post. In fact, he has become the most quoted person in the world about frequent traveler programs. Randy is also a past member of the Executive Women's Travel Network Advisory Council. Randy is continually called upon by large and small groups to speak
at their business travel seminars, conferences and other travel related functions. In addition, he has become a much-in-demand speaker on the subject of loyalty marketing and entrepreneurial businesses.
In The Works: Always busy, Randy is currently at work on a Mileage Donation Center for people to donate unused miles to charitable groups.
As a speaker, Randy is very much in demand as he addresses various groups talking about the phenomenon of frequent flyer programs, loyalty marketing and entrepreneurship.
