Late-Breaking Program News United MileagePlus and Marriott Rewards RewardsPlus
(Posted: Jul 15, 2013)

United and Marriott have teamed up to offer elite benefits to members of both programs.

Marriott Rewards Platinum members (including Platinum Premier and Ritz Carlton Rewards Platinum) who aren't already elite members with United MileagePlus will be offered complimentary MileagePlus Premier Silver status. Registration is required at http://marriottrewards.com/rewardsplus

United Global Services, Premier 1K, Premier Platinum and Premier Gold members will be automatically upgraded to Marriott Rewards Gold status. Registration is required at http://united.com/rewardsplus

Complimentary elite status for members of both programs will be effective until Jan. 31, 2014.

MileagePlus Premier members at all elite tiers, including Silver, will be able to convert their miles into Marriott Rewards points at a 1:1 ratio.

All members can convert their Marriott Rewards points to MileagePlus miles at a 20 percent discount and when booking a flight and hotel Marriott Rewards Travel Package, members will receive 10 percent more miles, up to 12,000 bonus miles.

There's nothing not to like with this new partnership between Marriott and United. United MileagePlus Premier Gold and above will receive lounge access and complimentary breakfast at Marriott locations, room upgrades, 25 percent bonus points and more, benefits normally reserved for members who stay 50 nights per year at Marriott.

Marriott Rewards Platinum members and above likewise receive United MileagePlus Silver status, which includes complimentary access to Economy Plus at check-in, upgrades when available, free checked bag and other benefits.

The new partnership only rewards elite members of both programs at the higher tiers. United MileagePlus Silver members can only take advantage of the option to transfer miles into points and Marriott Rewards Gold and Silver members only enjoy enhanced conversion rates, which are also offered to non-elite members.
