(Posted: Nov 17, 2008)

Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines have announced they are becoming "preferred alliance partners" and customers of both airlines will benefit from being able to use each airline's lounges and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.

Delta Crown Room and Northwest WorldClub lounge members will receive access to Alaska Airlines Board Room lounges by the end of 2009.

Gold and Platinum elite members of Delta SkyMiles and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan will receive reciprocal upgrades, priority boarding, check-in and seat assignment elite benefits when flying either airline. Northwest WorldPerks and Mileage Plan Gold and Platinum members will continue to receive reciprocal benefits.

To celebrate the new partnership, a bonus mile promotion will be launched in December 2008. We will provide the details of the promotion when they become available.
