This program was reviewed and rated by our editors in August 2007. Changes in the program past this date are possible, especially program partner information. We recommend you subscribe to the #1 source of frequent flyer information, Inside Flyer Magazine, to get the most current information possible.

Amman-based Royal Jordanian Airlines was established in 1963 as Jordan’s national carrier and was originally named after the late King Hussein’s third wife, Alia. The airline became Royal Jordanian in 1986, the same year it added Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami to its route map. It became the first airline in the Middle East to join one of the international air alliances when it joined oneworld on April 1, 2007. Royal Jordanian Airlines currently flies to over 50 destinations in 30 countries across four continents (Asia, Europe, Africa and North America), including London, New York, Bangkok, Paris and Dubai. Royal Jordanian's frequent flyer program, Royal Plus, is a point-based program.

Members can redeem points for flight awards on Royal Jordanian and partner airlines, claim missing miles and manage their accounts online. Members can view their accounts, which includes the date when points are going to expire. During online enrollment, members can choose to sign up to receive e-mails from Royal Jordanian and partners. The terms and conditions are clear and offer a lot of information, but missing from the Web site is a membership guide. Some of the links on the Web site don’t work all the time and we received an error message on more than one occasion.

PLUS FEATURES:
Because Royal Jordanian is a member of the oneworld alliance, Royal Plus members can earn and redeem points on many airlines to numerous destinations. The program also has a co-branded point-earning credit card. The Web site allows members to manage their online accounts. Elite membership is valid for two years and includes complimentary lounge access; Gold and Platinum level members receive access to oneworld lounges.

MINUS FEATURES:
The Web site mentions “its expanding partnerships,” and we would like to see some hotel partners and more car rental partners added to its growing list. The Web site could be improved by adding a membership guide and an earning and award chart for partner airlines; you can use the mileage calculator to determine the number of points earned on partner airlines but information about how many points are required for partner awards is not listed. The Web site also has a few glitches that need to be fixed.
