Rated: October 2014- Described as a "dating site" for hotel stays, Hotelied matches travelers with a curated selection of hotels at discounted rates. The site is designed to fill a niche in the overwhelming hotel booking landscape by allowing travelers to link their social media account, along with hotel and airline loyalty programs, to the site in order to obtain the best deals on hotel stays.
Hotelied allows its hotel partner to designate which traveler segments get access to which rates, creating the opportunity for a hotel to target specific groups based on their business needs.
For example, a hotel may want to target frequent travelers, loyalty program members or travelers working in a specific industry and offer that segment a specific discount. A hotel that would like to increase its social media interaction may search for potential guests with high social influence or a strong digital following. Hotelied does not share member profiles with hotels, so member information is always kept confidential.
To use the site, you must first become a member and create a travel profile, which involves linking your social media account and travel loyalty programs. The Hotelied home page offers a clean and simple mobile-friendly design that is a far cry from the typical hotel booking site. A visual menu across the top of the page offers new members a quick and easy process for linking social media accounts, airline and hotel loyalty programs. When you click on the Social Networks button, you are presented with buttons for Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Instagram and Google+. Social media accounts are linked to Hotelied with just one click. The process is the same for linking hotel loyalty programs. The site offers the ability to link with Le Club Accorhotels, Hyatt Gold Passport, Hilton HHonors, IHG Rewards Club, Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest. Airline programs offered include British Airways Executive Club, JetBlue TrueBlue, Lufthansa Miles & More and Virgin America Elevate. You do not need to link all of your accounts to receive discounted hotel rates, but the more information the site has, the better chances you have for receiving deep discounts.
To search for a hotel, simply enter your dates of travel, and a list of hotels will be displayed with the price and percentage of discount offered. Currently, the site has partnerships with a limited number of hotels in select destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Portland and Tel Aviv, but there are plans to expand. With the site just recently launched in May, there is a lot of room for growth. The site features mainly luxury and boutique hotels, such as the Viceroy in New York, Sixty Beverly Hills and Soho Beach in Miami. Those who travel frequently, have a large social media following or work in a high-profile industry are the most likely to benefit from using Hotelied. We like the idea of a site that offers personalized discounts and look forward to seeing how the company expands.
