Rated: March 2012- La Quinta Returns welcomes members like a bright sunny day when you access the home page with its subtle and sunny color palette. A big blue Join Now box draws your attention, along with information about members-only benefits, program awards and tier status.

The enrollment process is quick and you have the option to select the Remember My Account box, which will allow the site to remember your login information for your next visit. On the enrollment page, you'll also find information about the program including the way in which you earn points as well as information on members-only benefits like express check-in/late checkout, a members-only 800 number, 24-hour secured online account access and the point expiration policy that states points do not expire as long as your account remains active by earning or redeeming points at least once every 18 months. That's pretty much all you need to know except how many points you'll need to redeem for award nights.

You will instantly receive your membership number on the following page after enrolling in the program and can access information about partners, promotions, the co-branded credit card and award options. Once a member logs in, seven different menu options appear, including Account Summary, Reward Options, Make a Reservation, My Account, Buy Points, Member Benefits, Terms and Conditions. All seven of these options remain at the top of every page of the site once logged in, making navigation to all pages quick and easy.

The My Account page allows members to select the dates they would like to access for account details and you can choose to view only points earned or awards ordered. Members can also make changes to their personal profile on this page including room preferences like smoking or non-smoking, downstairs, poolside and more. You can also opt out from receiving La Quinta emails from this page. If you have missing credit for a hotel stay, you cannot request the credit for the stay online, you must call La Quinta. And the information about missing points was buried under a small Customer Support link at the top of the page--you cannot find it in the Terms & Conditions page of La Quinta Returns. This is one of the few missteps we observed for the site. Members can buy La Quinta Returns points for themselves or others online as well as access information on car rental, airline, financial services, luxury resorts and restaurant program partners. Members can also book free hotel nights online. The Member Benefits page breaks down all of the benefits of membership by the three membership tiers: Silver, Gold and Elite. If the website does not give you everything you need from La Quinta Returns, you can also follow La Quinta on Facebook, Twitter and sign up for mobile access through links at the bottom of every page. The free iPhone app allows La Quinta Returns members to access their account and book free nights as well as click-to-call any La Quinta hotel directly.

The La Quinta website has not changed much since we last reviewed it in 2009, but then, there wasn't much that needed to change. And even though the look and some functionality could be updated, it is still bright, smart, simple and fast.
